About Your Table

What to Expect

Hi, and welcome to Big B’s Fine Furniture. This section is here to guide you through how to care for your new table so it lasts 10+ years.

My primary finish is a hardwax oil, with an optional ceramic coating for extra protection. This finish is very durable and is made to last. The ceramic coating adds water resistance and increased scratch protection, but it doesn’t mean the table is bulletproof. Regular care and maintenance are still important.

Maintenance Tips

  • Wipe up spills promptly to prevent staining or water rings.

  • Use coasters and trivets to avoid placing hot or wet items directly on the surface.

  • Avoid dragging sharp or heavy objects across the tabletop.

  • Clean with a slightly damp microfiber cloth and mild soap if needed.

  • Never use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

Over the Years

Your table is built to last many years with normal use. Over time, it will age a little, but nothing drastic. It keeps the same overall look and feel. You may see light dulling or small wear spots in high use areas. That is simply how real hardwood ages, and none of that affects the strength or integrity of the table.

If you ever want it refreshed back to a brand new look, I offer refinishing services. I can usually do the work right in your home unless there is major damage. Most clients do not think about refinishing for many years, often around eight to ten or more, especially when following the maintenance tips.

Wood Selection Process

Every table I build starts with the wood itself. I personally hand pick every single board or slab, making sure the quality, grain, and character are top tier before it becomes part of your piece. All of my lumber is sourced from trusted suppliers here in Michigan and throughout the United States. By choosing local sources, I’m able to support regional mills and guarantee that every table is made with authentic, responsibly harvested hardwoods.
